Summary
316 Shield filters adult websites and lets you block, limit or schedule apps you choose on your Android phone. It does not check images and has no accountability-partner reports yet, so nothing is sent to a partner. Your browsing history is never sent to us or stored. No filter is perfect, and we make no accuracy claims.
What leaves your phone
- Website lookups: to filter websites, the app sends each website lookup (the site’s name, not the page or its content) to Cloudflare’s family-safe resolver (1.1.1.1 for Families, 1.1.1.3), encrypted when possible. On some hotel or airport Wi-Fi, lookups may be sent unencrypted for a short time. We never receive these lookups.
- Blocklist updates: the app downloads blocklist updates (built from the public StevenBlack list) from our server, which runs on Cloudflare. The download carries no account, name or data about you. As with any download, your IP address reaches the server; it is used only to deliver the file and limit abuse, may stay in server logs for up to 7 days, and is never linked to you or sold.
- Subscriptions: purchases go through Google Play. The app reads your purchase status from Google Play on the phone; we receive nothing.
What stays on your phone
Your rules, schedules, allowlist, app time limits (read from Android’s Usage access, on the phone), local counts and status history, your own plans and wellbeing counts, and the app’s own logs stay on your phone, stored encrypted. They are deleted when you tap “Delete my data from this phone” or uninstall the app. We never collect screen images, screenshots, browsing history, messages, keystrokes, contacts, location or audio. There is no advertising, no analytics or tracking SDK, and no sale or sharing of personal information.
Diagnostics
The app does not send crash reports or usage analytics.
VPN
The app uses a local VPN only to filter website lookups on your phone. Your traffic is not routed through our servers, and we never sell, use or disclose VPN data to third parties for any purpose.
Accessibility
If you agree on the app’s Accessibility screen, the app uses Android’s Accessibility service to notice when protection is turned off and to block apps you choose. To do that it reads the list of windows on screen and which app each belongs to. If you turn on Hide Reels, it also reads the names of screen parts in Facebook and Instagram to find Reels. All of this is checked on the phone and never stored, uploaded or shared. It does not read your messages, passwords or typing, and it never types or taps for you.
Children
316 Shield is for adults (18+).
Your choices
You can turn the filter off, delete the app’s data or uninstall it at any time; the app never blocks Settings or uninstall. There is no account to delete: see Delete your data.
This website
No cookies, analytics, ad pixels, trackers or third-party scripts. The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes standard request data (such as your IP address) to deliver and protect it. There are no sign-up forms.
